Summer is here and with 4th of July right around the corner I wanted to make a patriotic little card to share on the blog with you all. This weekend I noticed some of our new neighbors hanging bunting on their porches and homes in preparation for the holiday on Friday, so I was inspired to carry that theme onto my card using a red doily and some goodies from Simon Says Stamp.
I started with the SSS Lots of Stars stamp set, which was stamped in Hero Arts stone wash ink (the solid star) and SSS soft navy ink (the outline star) and handcut in 3 sizes. They were layered on top of one another and then over two circles which were cut from vellum and white cardstock. Next, the red doily was folded in half and sewn to the SSS fog gray cardstock layer (BEST gray EVER!). I then used the SSS Happy Birthday die to make the sentiment - I don’t seem to have a stamp for this holiday, so I thought the simple “Happy” would do! It was cut from the matching soft navy cardstock. I added a silver star to finish the card:
Nothing like a holiday to give you a fun reason to craft! I’ve not been in my craft room much since moving here (3 months ago) except to organize and clean out things that I am not using much anymore. I have been looking for ways to make the room serve more as a real office in addition to a craft room, but no strokes of genius have hit me yet. I think this gives me a good reason to spend more time on Pinterest!
Have a great day!
