Birthday Wishes

I am super excited to be posting a very special card in celebration of Winnie & Walter’s 1st birthday! Shay and Julie have brought so many of us joy over the last year not only with their superb designs, but also with their hearts - they are just two of the best people that I have met through this hobby. I am honored to remain one of their “Free Agents”! This month’s release is super special, so I hope you’ll check out all their new goodies and festivities.

My card today was inspired by Jennifer McGuire - even in my crafty hiatus her blog is still one that I check every single day, and I am just inspired by all the techniques that she uses, as well as her eye for color and videos. Her brain is a true encyclopedia of stampy knowledge! I started off by stamping the large stripe from Scenery Stripes onto the card front in yellow, masking the ends so that the stripe would not extend across the full width of the card front. Next, I covered that yellow stripe with washi and stamped the burst images from Sparkle, which is free with a qualifying purchase, in a rainbow of colors. Lastly, I added the sentiment from The Big, the Bold and Party in black on top.

(Here’s a little tip…the rainbow colors are all stamped onto patterned paper using Hero Arts dye inks. These inks are great for layering color, and like all dye inks they sink into the paper. The trick for stamping the black sentiment over the top and making it appear bold is using a pigment black ink like Versafine Onyx - the pigment ink will dry on top of the paper and therefore won’t mix into the colors beneath it. :)

In other news, I have been keeping up with my Project Life album and will share some more photos from that soon. I also attended my first Stella & Dot party today - it was a great escape after being snowbound because of Blizzard Juno, and WOW have I been missing out. Their stuff is seriously cute, and I met some really nice people at the same time. But enough about me…please head on over to the Winnie & Walter blog today and share some love for the lovely ladies over there! xo

Such a pretty card. It feels like a party on a card. Great tip about layering inks. I did not know all that. It is hard to believe that W&W are 1 year old, and I have not yet bought any of their stamps yet. I thought I was all caught up.
