The lovely Nina Yang invited me to participate in the Creative Blog Hop a few weeks ago…I was supposed to post this on September 29, but somehow tonight at 11:09pm on Oct. 7th it dawned on me that I forgot this! I have no idea why the brain works like this, but here I am! This is a blog hop about creativity and our love for creativity. Each Monday, a few bloggers will post on their blogs to share a little bit about their creativity and will also invite three other bloggers to join and post on the following Monday. Obviously, I broke that mold since it’s almost Wednesday. Can I argue that it’s Monday somewhere in the world right now?
1. What am I working on now?
Right now I am working on several things! I am making my mom’s Christmas cards, as I have done for her over the last few years. She likes them to be ready by Halloween so that she has plenty of time to write them out. I am using Papertrey Ink’s Bells and Boughs set on her cards. I actually designed my and Eric’s card on the computer this year, and am planning on printing them. I am also working on Halloween treat bags using Bootastic stamps from Mama Elephant - this will be our first year with trick or treaters so I am getting really excited!
2. How does my work differ from others in my genre? // If you had to describe your signature style, what would it be?
Oh, how I wish you all could tell me this! I am not sure how to answer! A friend once told me that my style is “cottage chic.” I think that is because I really do love working with patterned paper, but the trouble is that I haven’t found many patterns that I love lately. (I am on the lookout if you have recommendations!) Otherwise, I have preferred a more clean and simple look lately - it’s more satisfying to me somehow. Either way, I also enjoy working with bright colors! And GLITTER PAPER!!!!!!
3. Why do I create what I do? // What inspires your designs?
I create anything because it relaxes me. I love sitting with some music playing and just losing track of time while I make something. I am inspired by photos on Instagram a lot lately, as well as work found in stationery stores. Sometimes I think about posting my finds here on the blog, but am not sure how folks would react since they’re not my own work…letterpress is just so gorgeous…
4. How does my creative process work?
Usually I choose a stamp set and just GO with it! I almost always like to have a layout in mind too. I’ll search old issues of CARDS magazine or Pinterest for ideas. I wish I had more time to play in challenges but I’ve been taking an HTML/CSS class which is also a very creative outlet, and trying to exercise more lately (you may have seen my photos of the track on Instagram).
5. What three crafting tools/products can you not live without?
This is a tough one, but I would say: Versafine Onyx Black ink, Tombow mono adhesive (liquid glue), and my Tonic guillotine paper trimmer!
Since I fell so OFF schedule with this hop, I invite all of you to join in on the fun. Please leave your link here - I would love to read your posts! xo
