Studio Calico Sunday Card Sketch…with Steph!

By Suzanne

_DSC0017

I was super excited to see that this week’s Sunday Sketch Challenge at Studio Calico includes a card sketch inspired by Stephanie Washburn and of course I wanted to play along:

I broke out my last two card kits and a few other supplies and made this:

The red alpha stickers that were included in each of those kits seemed off-scale to me, so I diecut these ones from Clear and Simple Stamps cardstock (thanks, Jen!) using my Memory Box alpha dies. I also added the metal bling and red button, which I am pretty sure were from the Christmas card kit that Jeanne sent us a couple of months ago.

Hope your 2013 is off to a great start!

Clear and Simple Stamps Group Post: White Out

By Suzanne

groupb

Hi everyone! This is it. My final post as a guest designer for the Clear and Simple Stamps Collection 4 release. :( I think it has gone by too super-fast. My heart is full of happiness from all your support over the last two months; I am so grateful to Nicki at CSS for inviting me to do this, and to the whole DT for their encouragement along the way. This opportunity has been amazing.

With Labor Day approaching fast, our challenge this month was to make a white on white card. White paper, ribbon, diecuts, etc. And cream or beige would not make the cut! Tough, right? I have never made a card like this before, but I am actually excited about how it turned out:

I heat embossed the border stamp from Background Basics 2 in Versamark using glitter embossing powder, and embellished each flower center with a clear rhinestone. Then I stamped a sentiment from Party Elements: Celebration (an awesome set) just above that strip before cutting and layering the panel onto some addition white cardstock.

Clear and Simple Stamps Party Blog Hop

By Suzanne

Hi everyone! My time as a Guest Designer for Clear and Simple Stamps is winding down, and it has been a great experience creating so many projects to share with you over the last two months. Today is one of their most special days of the month because it’s the day that each designer “throws a party” using Clear and Simple Stamps’ products!

partyhop1

I wanted to throw a Lemonade Stand inspired party, but the weekend that our project photos were due, there was some horrid rain…so we moved the party indoors and improvised a bit! Above you can see the simple party invite that I made using one of CSS’s party sets, along with a single strip of pattern from the newly released Background Basics 2. The overlay was part of one of My Little Yellow Bicycle’s collections.

Here’s a shot of the whole shebang. Everything was truly super simple to assemble.

I used the Toppers die to make miniature tags to hang on some of CSS’s clear bags, which were filled with watermelon candy and tied with pink ribbon.

Here you can see some goodie bags that I made using brown lunch bags, which were “sealed” using paper cupcake wrappers in two different sizes and some flowered clothespins that I found in the dollar bin at Michael’s. The labels were stamped with a sentiment from By the Glass Sentiments and punched out of yellow cardstock using a paper punch.

Here we have lemonade served from a large old fashioned milk bottle, and poured into small clear plastic cups, which were decorated with straws embellished with miniature flags.

Each flag was stamped with “Love at First Sip.” Cute!

I hope this hop leaves you super inspired to throw some fun parties this summer, or perhaps into the new school year. Here’s a list of everyone playing along today…Happy Hoppin’!

CSS Release in Review Day 3: {Tags + Toppers + Edgers}

By Suzanne

Welcome back to Day 3 of the Clear and Simple Stamps Release in Review. Today’s theme is all about tags, bag toppers and edgers…and I’ve made this ensemble using the Toppers set, along with the CSS Cube die.

The toppers were cut and trimmed from My Minds’ Eye paper, and then stacked to look like presents. The sentiment, which is from the CSS Flowers set, was then stamped in Seattle ink from A Muse Studio, and white DMC floss was used to finish each one off with a bow.

Hop on over to the other designers’ blog to see what they have in store for you today!

CSS Release in Review Day 2: {Seaside Summer}

By Suzanne

Happy Monday! Did you all have a great weekend? Did you hit the beach at all? Today’s project is for Clear and Simple Stamps’ Release in Review week, and we’re highlighting the Seaside Summer Collection.

I used Seaside Sentiments 1 to make a small gift set using a kids’ shovel, some patterned papers from Echo Park, and a yellow vellum diecut from My Little Yellow Bicycle:

I love this parrot green grosgrain ribbon from Ribbon Carousel. The sentiment was stamped on a diecut using the Clear and Simple Stamps Toppers dies and stamps.

I then used their Bottle Tag to make this tag to hang on the shovel. I tweaked the design of the diecut to remove the pocket that usually hangs in the front of the tag, since I didn’t want to put anything inside the pocket. This is an awesome die!

Here’s a list of the other designers who have created projects using the Seaside Summer Collection today. I can’t wait to see everything they came up with:

CSS Release in Review Day 1: {By the Glass}

By Suzanne

It’s my second month as a Guest Designer for Clear and Simple Stamps (YAY!), and today marks the start of the Collection 4 Release in Review week. I have some projects to share using these fun goodies.

I used By the Glass Sentiments to make a BBQ invitation set. I mixed and matched up 3 different sentiments from the set and paired them with the tablecloth patterned paper from Authentique to make these:

I had a lot of fun layering all the banners and stitching them. Here is a list of the other designers who have projects to share today, so be sure to check them out:

Runway Inspired Challenge Baby Shower

By Suzanne

_DSC0027

I’ve been crafting up a storm and I couldn’t resist this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge, mostly because I picked up the new baby patterned paper pads from Crate Paper. I was mainly inspired by the grass that the babies are sitting on in each of the inspiration photos - they’re so cute! You should head on over to check them out.

The baby shower is being held in honor of Sarah Jay and Cristina Kowalczyk, RIC DT members who both had babies very recently. I used the same layout for each card and just switched up the papers for the boy and girl versions. The giraffe die and sentiment are from Clear and Simple Stamps. Hope you can join in on the fun too!

CSS App Project Sneak Peek

Clear and Simple Stamps Group Post

By Suzanne

groupproj3
Hi everyone! Today is the group post day for the July Clear and Simple Stamps release, and this month’s challenge is Holiday in July!
I started with the Eat, Drink & Be Merry sentiment from By the Glass Sentiments, and then I found this fabulous houndstooth paper from Teresa Collins in my craft room. Next, I decided to trim it and use one of the Toppers dies to shape the end of the strip, which was then adhered so that it would look like Santa’s belt:

groupproj2

The button was threaded with ivory jute twine, and then I inked the edges of the cardstock with Distress Inks to make it look a little more rustic and wintery. Everything was then mounted on aqua cardstock. That’s a funky photo of a black button! LOL.

These were really easy to make! There are several other CSS DT members playing along in today’s challenge, and since I am such a HUGE fan of Christmas papercrafts, I can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with. Have fun hopping along with me:
