I thought I would play along in this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge, and came up with this card late yesterday afternoon:
ETA: I was notified that this card also qualifies for the CAS-ual Friday Challenge this week, so I have entered it there as well!
I {LOVE} that yellow button from October Afternoon - makes my bow look like a daisy!
Have a great day!
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Mixed Messages; Paper: Jillibean Soup, yellow shade from SU!, kraft, white, brown trim from KI memories; Ink: Dark Chocalate; Other: yellow button from October Afternoon, twill ribbon, crystals from Michael’s, sewing machine, Memory Box doily die
Here’s a card for the
Play Date Cafe challenge this week - YAY for my first time with this challenge…the colors were calling to me. Aren’t they pretty?

Though I must admit that I was a little bit at a loss for the “bright blue” so I did the best I could with a deeper shade…and I quite like what I came up with:
Love how the green pops! Hope you’re having a happy Monday! Thank you for stopping by!
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Say It With Style, Polks Dot Basics I; Paper: My Little Yellow Bicycle patterned paper, white, New Leaf; Ink: Spring Rain, New Leaf; Other: Enchanted Evening buttons, Spring Rain satin ribbon, Sending You Die, Mat Stack Die, EK Success border punch, corner rounder
My beautiful doggy got me up early this morning, and I came across a Facebook post about Amber’s Reject Blog Hop - where we post our cards that didn’t make the cut for the Go-To Sketches issue of Papercrafts.
Like Amber, I haven’t tried very hard to get my cards published; this is probably only the 3rd time ever. And I think the rejection is actually worse than the rejection I face at work when one of our manuscripts is rejected from a journal because a journal will write back and at least give you a reason why. And usually they are pretty nice about it - oncologists are generally nice people. Don’t get me wrong, I am not sitting here crying or anything, but some constructive criticism would be nice to help improve your odds for the next go-around. Ha ha - “odds” - that’s the statistician in me speaking! I’ve warned you before that I am a nerd.
So here we go with two cards that got the big fat NO. At least my mom loved them!
I actually wish that I had my Janome sewing machine when I made this card because I would have loved to add a zig zag stitch around the edges on this one. Can I tell you how much I love this October Afternoon paper? LoVE!
And this card was made using patterned paper from My Little Yellow Bicycle; like the card the other day, this paper has a beautiful nylon-y texture to it. And the stick pins from Jenny Bowlin Studios are gorgeous - the perfect shade to be paried with kraft cardstock.
All of the other supplies on these cards are from Papertrey Ink, except for the crochet trim.
Thanks for looking! Oh yeah, and if you were rejected too, “Chin up, Buttercup!”
Anika is hosting the PPD Challenge this week, and has asked us to make a non-standard sized card! No problemo! I love making non-standard sized cards! Thanks for the fun challenge, Anika!
The finished card size is about 9.5 x 4 inches. I started making cards this shape once I discovered Maile Belles-I really love everything she makes and have a long way to go before my stuff is like hers. {sigh}
A girl can dream, can’t she!?
Anyway, I am in love with these papers together and will probably make some more of these. I need more thank you cards and will change out the sentiment. Do you do this — make several copies of the same card? I think it’s easier, actually! I always like to have a stash on hand.
Have a fun weekend!!
