Yup! Two posts in one day!
I visited my favorite local stamp shop this weekend and spent more than I had intended, partly because I found these fabulous rolled rose dies and partly because the place is just awesome. They hold a special place in my heart for being the only place that carried Cuttlebug C plates on this side of the Mississippi River during Christmas last year. They are called Absolutely Everything in Topfiled, MA and they even sell things online now. You should check them out!
I made a set of rolled roses to make a card for the lovely Renee‘s Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #42, also incorporating new patterned paper from Hero Arts and a sentiment from Verve. The blue and purple tones are blueberry and plum pudding from PTI:
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
Welcome to our surprise blog hop for our fellow Papertrey Paper Doll, Laurie Willison, who made it to the Top Ten of the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol competition. SO AMAZING, right!?
I am not gonna lie. I am crushed she didn’t win the whole thing! I asked myself, is this thing RIGGED? We were BAMBOOZLED! How on earth could this happen? She’s my FAVE!
Plus, I was in love with the idea of being able to send her on a cruise.
In celebration of her success, our group decided to have a blog hop in her honor. Lee Anne came up with the great idea that we each should CASE one of Laurie’s cards, so here the card I chose from Laurie’s Flickr gallery:
And here’s my mono-chromatic version:
You’re the BEST, Laurie!
And thanks to everyone for hopping along with us! Next up, is Katie!
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Forever Young (SU!), Tiny Tags; Paper: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, PP by Memory Box; Ink: Dark Chocolate; Other: Fine Linen ribbon, button, cream twine, tiny tags die, edger #3 die
I’ve got a card today that combines the latest Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge with the latest CAS-ual Fridays challenge:
I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use a background stamp and make a manly card, and was also inspired by a card that I saw in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog (which you should check out, since I think there are lots of great new things in there):
Manly, but fun? Right?
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: BB: Retro, Star Prints, sentiment from SU!; Paper: Kraft, Orange Zest, Very Vanilla (SU!); Ink: Spring Moss, Blue Bayou (SU!), ; Other: Woodgrain IP, brads from SU!, Limitless Layers dies, circle punch, banner stickers from Echo Park Walk in the Park Collection, ribbon from May Arts
Hi everyone!
I am hosting the current challenge over at the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog. This time around I challenged everyone to make a card using patterned paper everywhere, except as the card base. I hope you will stop on over and join us!
Here’s my card:
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
XOXO,
Suzanne

Here’s a card that I made for both the Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #36 and for the Moxie Fab World Tissue Paper Magic Challenge, which ends tomorrow…so you still have time to play!
My idea was to layer tissue paper over other textures to create more visual interest, and even though there is a lot between the grosgrain, satin, tulle and tissue, I think it still looks pretty delicate:
Love these colors together!
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Star Prints sentiment; Paper: patterned paper by The Girls’ Paperie; Ink: true black; Other: coordinating brad from The Girls’ Paperie, crystal swirls & pins from Michaels, nesties, white tissue paper, and green satin and tulle flowers from K & Co., white grosgrain ribbon
What an amazingly beautiful weekend we had here weather-wise. Makes me happy on the inside and out.
So last week my sister had her appointment and they are still running tests on her, but at least this doctor is doing something…the ones she has seen over the last month haven’t done much. So that meant 6 hours in hematology, to hear that the doctor thinks it might be an infection in her heart. And then there was my totally stinky day at work on Friday, and I arrived home to a gorgeous USPS box shipped from PTI…and it contained my long awaited Sending You set. {ahhhhh, so grateful for that!}
So I stamped that baby up today and came up with these two cards for the last two Papertrey Paper Dolls challenges.
For Challenge #34, C challenged us to make a gratitude card and for Challenge #35 Katie challenged us to make a card from scraps…so both of these cards are using scraps, actually!!
Here are my scrappy cards!
The ribbon and the white were scraps - the white was cut incorrectly from the digital baby motif card that I made a couple of months ago.
And here is my confession — that brown rosebud ribbon? Yeah. The one in the picture below. I have no idea what the heck to do with it. So I CASE’d that card from the latest issue of CARDS because I also had those scrap butterflies lying around. I won’t buy that flower ribbon again because I find it very hard to work with, and it just never looks as good in person as it does in photos.
Both are far more clean and simple than I am used to, but it was nice to have them done in such a jiffy. So how’s that…I am getting back into the swing of things! I have another post up next for the PDCC challenge.
Hello! You have made it to one of the stops along the Papertrey Paper Dolls First Blog Hop!
The theme for our blog hop is: P.T.I., so you should be looking for projects containing Papertrey Ink supplies that start with a “P”, a “T”, and an “I.” For my card, I have chosen Polka Dot Basics, Tag Sale Die #4, and It’s Official (sentiment stamp).
Take a peek at my creation, and don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the Made of Snow stamp set. And if you decide to leave a creation of your own on the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog, you will have a chance to win a $25 Papertrey Ink gift card! All comments and entries should be entered by midnight on Sunday, March 13. The winners will be announced on Monday the 14th on the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog.
For those who’d like to know more about me, I am 32 years old and have lived in the Boston, Massachusetts area for pretty much my whole life. I have been married for almost 5 years and we have a sweet doggie named Teddy. By day, I am a biostatistician working on lung cancer and leukemia clinical trials at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute - you can read more details about that here on my work website.
I first discovered Papertrey Ink just before Valentine’s Day of 2009 - my first purchase included white cardstock, raspberry fizz cardstock and ribbon, as well as the Raspberry Fizz patterened paper mix. It’s all gone downhill (?)/uphill (?) from there! LOL! I have been a member of the Papertrey Paper Dolls since the very beginning, which was about one year ago. My favorite PTI product (besides stamps) is the satin ribbon, and my favorite PTI stamp set is Just the Ticket. I just think it’s so darn adorable. And it fits my style so well. ALL of the colors are my favorite nowadays…
Next up: my creation. I love making cards with the scalloped border along the top, but I decorated the top edge of this one with ribbon, DMC floss, and buttons:
Lastly, I have to tell you that the color inspiration for this card came from Heather Pulvirenti’s Totally Hues Challenge. Check it out here!

Happy Sunday, everyone! This morning I went for a nice long walk - 5 miles. And even though I had an epic cartoon-style fall on some ice about halfway through, I’m glad I got out to enjoy the fresh air. My junk in the trunk saved me from hurting myself or landing on my iPod, so it’s all good.
Today I have a set of baby cards to share. The newest Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge was to make a set of baby cards - one for a boy and one for a girl - that are similar to each other. I think Leish hit it outt the park with this one! And for some sketch inspiration, I used CPS #208.
I have used a mixture of patterned papers from Papertrey Ink, Making Memories and My Little Yellow Bicycle to make these cards. The stamps set are Background Basics: Tin Types and Say It With Style from PTI.
I didn’t notice it upstairs in my craft room, but I am not sure why there seems to be some flower markings across the lion’s face. I don’t own any stamps like that, so maybe it’s part of the paper? It’s the same shade of peach found elsewhere on the paper. And it was my one and only piece so I can’t go back and check. Oh well. Adds character! {wink}.
In a couple days I will be back with a card for the Papertrey Paper Dolls 1st ever Blog Hop! There will be prizes so please join us!
Today I have a sympathy card to share. I made this with the last two PPD challenges in mind, because each of them asked us to use a flower set. I don’t have any of the Year of Flowers series sets, so I opted for Delightful Dahlia. Amy challenged us to emboss and use springy colors (a challenge in and of itself because I needed to make a sympathy card) and Laurie challenged us to use designer paper and at least 3 colors; the polka dot paper that I am using here is from Anna Griffin. The links to the challenges can be found here and here.
There are also two “firsts” about this card - it is the very first time that I tried masking so I could layer the flowers and it’s the first card that I sewed with my Janome Sew Mini, a Valentine’s Day gift from my husband. I was also inspired to dry emboss the square around the sentiment strip based on this post/video by Kristina Werner.
I embossed the sentiment using clear embossing powder, but used white embossing powder on the flowers after stamping those in white ink. The colors here are soft stone, enchanted evening, and a soft grayish blue polka dot paper, as well as white.
Today is my last day of stay-cation so I hope to have a Make It Monday card to post a little later on too. :)
Not only is this my second post of the day, but this post is a Triple Play for the following 3 things:
1. Papertrey Ink’s Anniversary - Day 2
2. Curtain Call Color Challenge ACT 68
3. Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #30
How does my card fit each of these challenges? Lemme explain…
The center of the tag was printed at home from the free digital download available in Nichole’s post today, and I used the colors posted on Stacey’s blog for the Curtain Call challenge:
And lastly, the lovely Laurie challenged us to use felt on a project for the Dolls challenge. I can’t believe I did it all! My very first Triple Play! The crafty world is very busy these days, so be sure to visit each of these blogs to join in on the fun.
Here’s my card:
Here are some of the details…I added glitter to the rainbow after using a water-filled brush pen to color the rainbow with Raspberry Fizz ink. Notice how I tried to make the center pink stripe a little lighter in color. Then I used another brush pen to color the dots on the clouds with New Leaf ink. The backgrounds are embossed using the picnic plaid and linen impression plates, and the scalloped circle is cut from felt to add more dimension to my project. I really love how this looks because the colors are so pretty together.
Chili is on. And now I am ready for the game. Have fun!
