Happy Anniversary!

We had a snowy day today so I worked from home and then I played in my craft room…I made this card for three different challenges this week:

1. Paulina’s 10 Minute Craft Dash: Pink, Green & Gray
2. Simon Says Blog Challenge: Use Washi
3. Ardyth’s Anniversary Hop for Darnell :)
I was pretty lucky when it came to Paulina’s dash, because a lot of these supplies were on the floor and easily accessible, and I had an idea for what I wanted to do when I started. I think I would have preferred to add some bling and perhaps more washi tape to the top edge of the pink panel, but that’s they way it goes sometimes! I was already at 11 minutes, 52 seconds. Not very good. :(

The washi tape is kinda hidden but it’s there - I love using it as a border underneath cardstock. :) The stamps and tag die are from Wplus9. :)

Lastly, Ardyth asked us to post our own wedding photo in honor of Darnell’s big day…so here is a shot of me and my “Mister” 6 years ago:

Happy Anniversary, Darnell!

CAS-ual Fridays 65: Square Cards

By Suzanne

This is my 2nd post for today…for my CSS Party Blog Hop post, please scroll down. Thanks!

Saturday is becoming my most favorite day of the week, and not because Renee has been saying it for quite some time now. ;) It’s my day of the week to post my CAS-ual Fridays Challenge card (which is featured over on their Facebook page)!

This week’s challenge is to make a SQUARE card, and our sponsor this week is Stampotique Originals, who was super kind and let us choose some images to work with today. Thanks, Stampotique!

For my card today, the image and sentiment were stamped onto white cardstock with black ink, and then I colored the hearts with a Tombow marker. After that, I added bubblegum glitter from A Muse Studio to each heart, layered the panel onto some MFT Razzleberry cardstock, added the ribbon tab, and mounted it all onto a black square cardbase. Very easy!

Our Team recently had a discussion about where we find inspiration for our cards, and we thought it would be fun to share our thoughts on our blogs at some point. I love mixing colors, any colors, and find inspiration for that in my patterned papers. I also get a ton of inspiration from card magazines and the blogs I visit. I love viewing layouts; I will sit and try to figure out exactly what it is that I love about a particular card…then I wonder how I can tweak it to make it more “me.” I have a long commute to work, and when a card is due I use my time in the car to think about what I want to make when I get home (in addition to singing out loud at the top of my lungs). I don’t love every card that I make, but each one is a chance for me to try something new, have fun, and relax. I’d love to hear what you do!

So…be there, or be square for our challenge, and have a fun weekend!

Winners!

By Suzanne

Thanks to everyone who left a comment for the two giveaways. When I started this blog I had no idea if I would like it or not. I admit that I haven’t gotten around to particpating in as many challenges as I would have liked this year, but seeing all the nice things people have had to say has been really inspiring. I really appreciate it!
The member of the Papertrey Paper Dolls that won the $15 Starbucks gift card is Anika! Go for the hot cocoa, Anika! And the winner of the $10 PTI gift card is Barbara DeBose! Woo hoo!
Congratulations! I sent you PMs via the PTI forum to get your info. Giving stuff away is fun fun fun! (Somehow I feel like I should disclose that random numbers were genered using the statistical program called R. That’s the nerd in me showing right there!)
Now, back to business.
I made some cards this morning, and started to make them in duplicate. I think doing 2 or 4 of a certain card at a time is easier than doing one different card at a time. Does anyone else do this? Here’s what I drummed up today:

I hope you all have a fun day! We are heading out to dinner and a movie with some friends tonight, which means I need to get cracking on some work for a 7:30am meeting tomorrow. Gotta run! Bye!
Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}
Stamps: Round and Round, Tiny Tags (SU!)
Paper: Patterned paper from SEI, Melon Berry, Vintage Cream
Ink: Chocolate Chip, peachy-berry color is from Color Box Chalk collection.
Other: Organza ribbon (SU!), chocolate chip baker’s twine, pearl, Mat Stack die, EK Success edge punch

Giveaway for all!

By Suzanne

But first, an adorable card from my friend, Jessica!
If you haven’t visited her blog, you should because she makes all kinds of cute stuff. Plus she posts way more frequently than I do, so she certainly provides way more eye candy than I can. ;) This card uses paper and possibly stamps from A Muse, since Jess told me she made it at one of their classes. It arrived and brightened my day after a very long day at work - I was so happy to find it in the mail.
Also, since 10/10 was my one-year blog-o-versary, I thought it would be fun to do a giveaway for everyone. I would like to give away a $10 gift card to Papertrey Ink as a small token of my appreciation for everyone who visits. I will randomly choose one person on Sunday, October 17th as the winner. All you need to do is leave a comment by 11:59PM on Saturday, October 16. Thanks!!
P.S. If you are a member of the Papertrey Paper Dolls, please see my post below!

Giveaway #1: for the Papertrey Paper Dolls

By Suzanne

Hi there!
Today marks one year since I started this bloggy-blog, and I thought it would be fun to do 2 giveaways in honor of the anniversary! This first giveaway is for members of my blog group, the PTI Paper Dolls. As a thank you to all of you for all of your comments and inspiration, I would like to give away a $15 gift card to Starbucks to keep you energized and warm through the upcoming chilly season. A friend recently gave me one, and I rekindled my love for their hot cocoa, and now I would like to pay it forward. I will randomly choose one person one week from today on Sunday, October 17th as the winner. All you need to do is leave a comment by 11:59PM on Saturday, October 16. Thanks!!
