Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop & A la Carte MIM

By Suzanne

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

While I was baking cookies the other night, I tried to think of ideas for a card for today’s blog hop at Papertrey Ink…here’s my take on this month’s white-on-white challenge. I was also inspired by the glittered diecuts challenge in this week’s a la carte Make It Monday. That’s a two-fer!

I used the By the Numbers die collection and I glittered them using a Xyron. Then I glittered a scalloped border and layered some silver washi tape over that strip before tying some white crochet thread over it to finish the card off. All of the cardstock here is Select White.

Nichole said we could add touches of neutrals - is silver neutral? I think so?! Thanks so much stopping by!

Hugs,

Make It Monday on Saturday

This week’s Make It Monday challenge was to use layered glitter shapes on a card, so I broke out PTI’s Peace Be Still dies and Stylish Sentiments: Holiday, as well as some Jillibean Soup papers to make this card. I was loving the idea of green with navy for a holiday card, as well as the idea of layering a diecut heart into the dove’s mouth.

The sentiment was stamped in Enchanted Evening ink and all of the cardstock is the same shade or Vintage Cream. I can’t wait to mail this one out - I sent out a first batch of cards today, but I still have lots more to go.

Hope you’re having a fun weekend. Thanks very much for stopping by!

In defense of all the pink…

I fully admit to loving non-traditional colors for holiday cards, and raspberry fizz is my all time favorite color but honestly and truly…Michael’s has been out of red bling for ages! That is making Christmas cards kinda tough to do in regular colors.

I took a break from some late night work to make this card for this week’s Make It Monday: Glitter Detail Technique at Papertrey Ink and Mojo Monday Challenge:

I used Candy Cane Christmas and Stylish Sentiments: Holiday on this card, and I accented the candy candy and raspberry fizz strip with bubble gum glitter from A Muse Studio. The rectangle was diecut using Stitched Mats: Rectangles from Lil’ Inker Designs and the holly was diecut using PTI’s Holly Jolly dies. The patterned paper is from Echo Park’s Holly Jolly Christmas line- one of my favorites of all time.

Now, I’ve gotta get back to business and finish up some work before bed, but at least I’ve got my singing shows to entertain me while I do it.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Sunday Morning Project for Baby’s 1st

By Suzanne

I just wanted to share this project really quickly - it’s something I worked on this morning for my mom. A couple of weeks ago, she mentioned that she was invited to a coworker’s son’s first birthday party. She showed me the photo invitation and it had photos of the baby from different months of his first year. She asked if I could make something cute out of it as a keepsake. I said OK, not really knowing what I was going to do.

This morning I came across this pin by WMS on Pinterest, and that is where I got the idea for this project. I cut out the photos and glued them onto some Spring Moss cardstock from Papertrey Ink, and then I made the diaper out of oatmeal cardstock from WPlus9; it took me a while to figure out, but in the end I think I got it okay. I embellished everything with green baker’s twine and green jute twine from RibbonCarousel.com, adding a button and some fancy ribbon too. Lastly, the envelope was decorated really quickly to match, using my tag die from Wplus9 and my Sizzix letter dies.

Since this is sort of like a pocket and I used PTI cardstock, I am entering this into this week’s Make-It-Monday Challenge #68 at Papertrey Ink.

I just dropped the project off at my mom’s house and she seemed to like it, so I am a pretty happy camper. Thanks for stopping by…enjoy your day!

MIM: homemade washi tape

By Suzanne

Hello….homemade washi tape!

That’s the theme of this week’s Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey…and I went several rounds with the tape before I got the hang of it, ultimately having to emboss the ink on my tape to keep it from smudging:

I layered the summer sunrise cardstock after embossing the top layer with the Linen IP and then I added the sentiment strip, which was stamped with images from the Half and Half set.

That’s pretty much it! Pretty simple and fun!

Make It Monday #31

By Suzanne

It has been ages since I have played along with Papertrey’s Make It Monday, but I found this week’s challenge particularly hard to resist. We were tasked to create a background with a non-background stamp.

I knew I wanted to make a simple card so the background would stand out. I used Fall Elegance because I love the medium to small sized leaves in this set, as well as the beautiful script font of the sentiments. Then I got a little fancy with some twine and buttons… :)

My favorite thing about this card is the color combination: Ocean Tides, Terracotta Tile and Vintage Cream. Definitely a keeper for me!

MIM #3: Glitter Strips with Scor Tape

By Suzanne

I’m back with my second post of the day for the Make It Monday challenge, which was to make a card with a glitter strip on it. You can read all about it here on Nichole’s blog.

For this card, I used a base of Enchanted Evening cardstock, mixed with Blueberry Sky strips on the card front as well as the Brunch patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket. The sentiment is from the Asian Fusion stamp set. The flower image on the right is from Baby Button Bits. I stamped it in Vintage Cream ink and heat embossed it. Then I rubbed enchanted evening ink over the heat embossed areas…followed by some glue pen action on the petals to add more glitter to the right side of the card.
Hope you like it! Have a great week!

Make It Monday

By Suzanne

This week’s Make It Monday Challenge was to make a card that has a sentiment stamped on some vellum. I needed to make a birthday card for tonight and this is what I came up with:
Pretty much all supplies are from PTI, except for the toothpick center. I cut off the top of a fancy fancy pin and glued this to the top of the toothpick; the ribbed red paper is from my LSS. I used Star Prints and Dot Spot along with Aqua Mist and Blueberry Sky papers. The vellum is cream tinted. The inks are Snow White and Versa Mark. I also used the cloud dies with vintage cream felt. :)
Have a happy Monday!
