Textured Fun Blog Hop & Giveaway

By Suzanne

Hi again! Today I have the awesome pleasure of being a part of the Textured Fun Blog Hop using Avery Elle’s Texture Tiles: Be Cool stamp set, which was designed by the super cute and super sweet Nina Yang. I used colors and a sketch from this week’s Summer Card Camp 2, and used emboss resist to highlight this fun stamp set.

textured-fun-blog-hop-badgeI used PB&J papers from Basic Grey, along with Distress Inks, Hero Arts hexagon dies and Nina’s other Avery Elle set, Simply Tags: Everyday…and put together a quick little video explaining my approach to this card. It’s not an Oscar-winning performance but I hope it does the trick!

Here are the other lovely ladies on this hop with me. There will be three random winners (one for each stamp/die listed) drawn from comments left on all of our blogs, so be sure to enter for a chance to win! Please be sure to let me know If follow me in other places (on Bloglovin, Feedly, Flickr, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) because this gives you more chances to win! Papertrey June Blog Hop

By Suzanne

Hi there! Today is the Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop and the theme this month is Touch of Gold. I made two clean and simple cards for it using a sentiment from Mini Blooms and flowers from Bigger Blooms. For my touch of gold, I used a sheet of gold glitter paper from American Crafts - this stuff is so awesome.

On my first card, I had an idea for this funky wrapped look, using a nontraditional color scheme. I trimmed and layered pieces of cardstock until I got the look that I wanted and I think it made for a fun card. It’s in the mail for Kristie!

Using similar colors, I then stamped the Bigger Blooms onto some diecuts and adhered them to a chevron piece from the Chevron Cover Plate to create a more girly card. I used Mega Mat Stack 4 to create the decorative edge along the bottom of the white panel, which reminds me of a mega version of one of the Half & Half dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey April Blog Hop: Foxy Origami

By Suzanne

_DSC0014

Hey there! I’ve got a fun project to share for this month’s Papertrey Ink blog hop. The theme this month is “tilted designs” and my foxy origami project was inspired by this tutorial that I found on Pinterest, since the backs of these foxes are slanted.

I used lots of PTI goodies on these. The patterned paper is their Dotty Biscotti paper, and the noses were stamped using one of the solid circle stamps in Daydreamer. The sentiment comes from Sketched Shapes.

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

By Suzanne

The Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop is going on today, and this month’s challenge is to use black backgrounds. Knowing that I wanted to use Soft Stone, Aqua Mist and Winter Wisteria together for a thank you card, I couldn’t quite bring myself to use black - it seemed too harsh, but I thought that the Smokey Shadow base was the next best thing, considering the inspiration photos Nichole posted for us.

I started by lightly dabbing some white acrylic paint onto the card front, using the end of a paintbrush and a toothpick - I have never really mastered the “splatter” technique but that’s the look that I was going for. Then I diecut and stamped Lovely Layers using Slate ink from A Muse Studio, and layering it all together with some foam tape. The card base was diecut using a Mat Stack die, and some Soft Stone cardstock was adhered to the inside of the card.

That’s it for today! Thanks so much for hopping by!

Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop & A la Carte MIM

By Suzanne

_DSC0006

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

While I was baking cookies the other night, I tried to think of ideas for a card for today’s blog hop at Papertrey Ink…here’s my take on this month’s white-on-white challenge. I was also inspired by the glittered diecuts challenge in this week’s a la carte Make It Monday. That’s a two-fer!

I used the By the Numbers die collection and I glittered them using a Xyron. Then I glittered a scalloped border and layered some silver washi tape over that strip before tying some white crochet thread over it to finish the card off. All of the cardstock here is Select White.

Nichole said we could add touches of neutrals - is silver neutral? I think so?! Thanks so much stopping by!

Hugs,
Suzanne

Waltzingmouse Blog Party

By Suzanne

I made a card real quick for this month’s Walzingmouse Blog Party. Our theme was a color challenge…head on over to the Waltzingmouse Blog to check it out!

I used some of Claire’s most gorgeous Halloween images to create this fun card. The patterened paper and corner stickers are from SEI, and the bling is from Doodlebug designs. The splatter image is from Recollections.

Sorry if I seem rushed but this blog party ends today and I have to get ready for my card class with Shari Carroll at my local stamp shop!! I am so excited!

Have a fun day,

Waltzingmouse Blog Party: June 2012

By Suzanne

I’ve got a card to share for today’s Waltzingmouse Blog Party. It’s my first time playing along!

The inspiration photo also contained a color combination that I just fell in love with. I was inspired by the branches in the vase to use the willow tree from Blessed by You to make my card. The technique that I used has been seen out-and-about in blog land and I thought this was a great chance to try it out: cut strips of colored paper and then deboss them with your favorite embossing plate. The woodgrain one that I used is from PTI.

I inked up the tree initially in grayand then lightly added in the other colors, allowing them to mix into one another. All of the inks are from A Muse Studio, with the exception of the teal one which is from SEI.

Have a lovely day! Enjoy your Father’s Day! I am off to see my dad in just a little bit. :)

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

By Suzanne

I thought I’d play along in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop this month because I just loved the colors and patterns in the inspiration photo:
I was drawn to the polka dots mostly, and decided to carry them over to my project by glittering the lady bug image from Tremendous Treats Birthday in bright pink. There has been a lot of talk this week in the PTI Forum about glitter because of the MIM Challenge and Melissa Phillips’ challenge, so I think this is where the idea came from. I also used a Copic marker to add some blush to their faces:

It was super fun making this card and working with this stamp set - I’m so happy I decided to get it. I hope you are enjoying your day! Happy Blog Hoppin’!

Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Tremendous Treats Birthday; Paper: Vintage Cream & Kraft, Bazzill (Vintage Marketplace patterned papers); Ink: Memento; Other: tab dies, A Muse Studio Glitter (bubblegum, champagne), corner chomper, Janome Sew Mini, Copic marker

Papertrey Ink February Blog Hop

By Suzanne

PTIbhFeb2012 008

The theme for this month’s Papertrey Ink Blog Hop is interactive cards. Since I was lucky enough to receive my release order in time for this challenge, I knew that I just had to use my new zipper die from the Movers & Shakers Collection to make a birthday card for a friend.

I started with a Raspberry Fizz cardstock base and added patterned paper, zig-zag ribbon, and a journal card from the new Webster’s Pages collection; the zipper die was used to cut some Bellini paper (A Muse Studio), which was later stamped with PTI’s Polka Dot Basics I in Fresh Snow ink and heat embossed.

I diecut a Vintage Label (A Muse Studio) from Lemon Tart paper and cut it in half to create panels for each side of the journal card. The Raspberry Fizz buttons were threaded with a matching shade of yellow DMC floss and added for an extra pop of (my favorite) color.

PTIbhFeb2012 012

I wish I could have “unzipped” this to show you that I stamped a fantastic Happy Birthday greeting from PTI’s Birthday Bash Sentiments under the zipper, but I didn’t want to ruin the card for my friend!

Happy Blog Hoppin’, everyone!
