Hi again! Today I have the awesome pleasure of being a part of the Textured Fun Blog Hop using Avery Elle’s Texture Tiles: Be Cool stamp set, which was designed by the super cute and super sweet Nina Yang. I used colors and a sketch from this week’s Summer Card Camp 2, and used emboss resist to highlight this fun stamp set.
I used PB&J papers from Basic Grey, along with Distress Inks, Hero Arts hexagon dies and Nina’s other Avery Elle set, Simply Tags: Everyday…and put together a quick little video explaining my approach to this card. It’s not an Oscar-winning performance but I hope it does the trick!
Here are the other lovely ladies on this hop with me. There will be three random winners (one for each stamp/die listed) drawn from comments left on all of our blogs, so be sure to enter for a chance to win! Please be sure to let me know If follow me in other places (on Bloglovin, Feedly, Flickr, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) because this gives you more chances to win! The winners will be announced on Nina’s blog on July 22nd.

If you have any of Nina’s stamp sets, she would love for you to link up here anytime. Thanks very much for stopping by - have a great day!
You are in for a special treat. I really can’t believe I agreed to be videotaped with Jen Rzasa and Jessica Davis doing the 10 Minute Craft Dash the other night at my house. I thought you wouldn’t see my pants in the video…SO not true! Aren’t my pajama bottoms sexy? (NOT.)
Here are the colors for the challenge:
The cardstock, scalloped sticker, and patterned paper came in this month’s Simon Says Stamp card Kit. The flowers are from Martha Stewart and the embossing folder is from Lifestyle Crafts. Ten minutes is not a long time!
Here’s our video. I noticed a few things….I am surprisingly calm until I panic at the end; Jen’s cinematography skills while chasing me upstairs remind me of a horror movie, though I love how Teddy comes along for all the action; and my accent sounds REALLY bad (or good, depending on how you look at things).
After this we over, we were too pooped to craft anymore so we ate mini donuts and cookies instead.
This is my second post for today…please scroll down

What a happy post this is - I am over-the-moon excited to tell you that I am this week’s Guest Designer at the Muse Card Club!
I received such a sweet email from Jackie Rockwell inviting me to help her with this new, unique and super fun blog…here’s how it works:
Use ANYTHING you want from your stash to create a project inspired by this week’s Muse.
In your post, explain how you were inspired and link back to the Muse blog.
Provide supportive comments on at least 3 other member’s submissions.
Vote for three of your fellow member’s submissions.
All of the details can also be found here on the Muse blog. Now that we’ve got that squared away, here is the card I made for you all this week:
I didn’t get a chance to play along with the first Muse challenge, but was totally inspired by Amy Kolling’s use of flowers in her Muse card last week. Since Raspberry Fizz is my all-time favorite color to craft with, I started with a piece of cardstock and went through my patterned papers until I came across the matching American Crafts XOXO stash. As it turns out, I did not use any stamps or bling or ribbon on this card!
The top edge of the card was cut using an oval Nestabilities die. It was pretty easy to do, but in case you’re still not sure, I made a quick video for you:

I hope my card inspires you, and that you’ll interpret my project in your own special way and join in on the fun this week! Will you choose the layout? The colors? The hearts or flowers or arrows? The patterns? I can’t wait to see what you make!
Many thanks to Jackie and the Muse Card Club for having me this week! I feel so blessed to be a part of this new journey and a member of this fantastic card club!
Some of you may have realized that a little while ago, I subscribed to the Studio Calico monthly card kit, but then I found the Simon Says Stamp monthly kits pretty hard to resist. I hadn’t seen any info on the big differences between the two, so I made a little video to go through what I think are some of the differences; my guess is that month to month, these kits can change, but from looking at past kits online, it looks to me like the type of contents and the quantity of items stays roughly the same for the price.

The Simon Says Stamp kit that I reviewed in this video is the January 2013 Thinking of You card kit which you can find here.
For details on subscribing to the Simon Says card kit club, please see this page.
Simon Says also has a page of FAQs on the card kit here.

You can find all the details on the Studio Calico Block Party kit from the video here.If you would like to subscribe, I think you may need to be put on the waiting list, which was two months for me when I signed up last Fall.
Studio Calico lists all of their FAQs here.
Studio Calico also lists how the monthly kits work here.
If I had to list the three biggest differences between the two kits they are:
Total price (including shipping and any possible cancellation fees)
Size and style of the stamp sets
Types/amount of paper and cardstock
There are two points I wish I had remembered to make when doing the video:
There might be other card kit clubs available:
Stampin’ Up! is coming out with one called My Paper Pumpkin.
ETA: Barbara Murphy left me a lovely comment about two other card kit clubs:
Paper Made Bakery…Baker’s Dozen kit subscription
Artful Delights…Card Kits
If you are considering subscribing, you may want to look into what happens when you want to unsubscribe. If you are unsubscribing from the Studio Calico subscription prior to 6 months, there is a $15 fee; I believe that you can unsubscribe from Simon Says’ kits at any time without a penalty.
I don’t think I will (or can) maintain both subscriptions moving forward, and will spend some time trying to decide which to keep (if any). I do love getting these in the mail and trying new things, but the costs and the time to use all the stuff (as well as the space to organize and store everything in a place where I will remember) are limited. I also think that the kits are geared toward different styles of cardmaking.
I hope you enjoyed watching, and if you have any questions please let me know; I love hearing from all of you. I will do my best to keep this post updated!
