Textured Fun Blog Hop & Giveaway

By Suzanne

Hi again! Today I have the awesome pleasure of being a part of the Textured Fun Blog Hop using Avery Elle’s Texture Tiles: Be Cool stamp set, which was designed by the super cute and super sweet Nina Yang. I used colors and a sketch from this week’s Summer Card Camp 2, and used emboss resist to highlight this fun stamp set.

textured-fun-blog-hop-badgeI used PB&J papers from Basic Grey, along with Distress Inks, Hero Arts hexagon dies and Nina’s other Avery Elle set, Simply Tags: Everyday…and put together a quick little video explaining my approach to this card. It’s not an Oscar-winning performance but I hope it does the trick!

Here are the other lovely ladies on this hop with me. There will be three random winners (one for each stamp/die listed) drawn from comments left on all of our blogs, so be sure to enter for a chance to win! Please be sure to let me know If follow me in other places (on Bloglovin, Feedly, Flickr, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) because this gives you more chances to win! The winners will be announced on Nina’s blog on July 22nd.

Hello, Poppies!

By Suzanne

I was so excited when Amy had this set with her last weekend - it’s the My Favorite Things Pretty Poppies set. I tried Laurie’s Fresh Ink in tomato red, an awesome color, and stamped these on to some Basic Grey patterned paper. Some black glitter finished off the card…

…and now I think I need these stamps. :)

Monday Mood Board: Navy, Coral & Kraft

By Suzanne

My photo has been removed because the card is out for publication. Thanks for looking!

I’ve plopped the Pioneer Woman’s lasagna in the oven and jumping onto the computer really quickly to post a card that I made this morning for Dawn’s Monday Mood Board challenge, which was to use navy, coral and kraft on a project using at least one Wplus9 image:

I started off with the Basic Grey PB&J patterned paper, along with the glassine baggie and doily, and just started layering until I had a good idea for what I wanted to do. Then I pulled out my Wplus9 stamps and decided to stamp the leaves from Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions in navy onto the navy paper, and then I went ahead and stamped the frame from Brothers and Sisters in peach, adding the sentiment from Very Vintage Greetings in navy and the heart from Sweet Nothings in kraft behind it (I stamped off once before adding the heart).

The SU! ribbon seemed like the perfect addition since I thought I needed more kraft, and then the gold sequins from Neat and Tangled finished off the card.

So, are you going to watch the Oscars tonight? Any favorites? Last night we watched “Argo,” and I think I liked it much more than either “Lincoln” or “Zero Dark Thirty,” so my fingers are crossed for the hometown native Ben Affleck.

Have a fun night!

Merry Classic Christmas

By Suzanne

Tonight I made a quick CAS card using one of my most fave Wplus9 sets: Classic Christmas. I heat embossed the sentiment onto that awesome blue cardstock and layered some embossed squares (that I layered over one another so that the dot pattern would remain seamless) so I could enter this into the Square Punch Challenge over at the Moxie Fab World blog.

The flair button comes from Basic Grey’s Aspen Frost collection. The colors are so fun for Christmas and I might need to play with these some more! These would be easy to mass produce for the holidays…

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Retrosketches #34

By Suzanne

Happy Weekend! I am back with a card for this week’s Retrosketches Challenge, using lots of Hero Arts goodies. I had an awesome time at my classes with Shari Carroll of Hero Arts on Thursday and just had to use my new Holiday Cheer set.

I rotated the sketch and stamped Tiny Flakes onto patterned paper from Basic Grey’s Aspen Frost collection. I stamped and diecut the reindeer and trees, using Copics to color the reindeer and his sweater, and then I stamped the sentiment from Two Birds in a Tree in kraft ink.

The bow was tied using Designer Twine, which I love because it has a very smooth finish. I added some mini pearls to the trees and called it day! I am entering this into the October Hero Arts contest as well - they have some holiday challenges going on and I wanted to join in the fun.

I can’t wait to play with the reindeer some more. Hope you have a crafty weekend planned! I am going to a shoebox swap tomorrow and have to plan my projects. :)
