Party time

By Suzanne

A friend came over tonight for dinner and the plan was to craft a little but we accomplished nothing, so I made this card really quick after she left. I used my Simon Says July Card Kit and was inspired by this week’s sketch at Retro Sketches. Things just go so quickly when I am not making a mess with my stamps!

I worked at home today because I woke up to some absolutely crazy storms that ended up lasting all day (I am somewhat scared to get on the highway when it’s pouring rain like that) - we are okay, but some streets are reported to be under 3 feet of water tonight! The last time it rained like this, I remember seeing some people canoeing down the street…

XO,

Party time!

By Suzanne

Tonight we are going out to celebrate my sister’s graduation and I made this card for her using this week’s sketch at Retrosketches, some Glitz Design papers, and a stamp from My Favorite Things. The polka dotted paper reminded me of confetti, which seemed like a perfect fit for this party!

The sketch is based on a card that Laurie made - hope you can check it out!

Back with another card that is chock full o’ Lil’ Inker Designs goodies for this week’s RetroSketches Challenge:

I used the Lil’ Inker Stitched Squares and Stitched Rectangles dies, along with a sentiment from their Sun Sentiments set, which was stamped in Seattle ink from A Muse Studio. I added the vellum chevron feather from Jenni Bowlin and some gray and red washi tape from my LSS too.

Have an awesome weekend!

This week’s sketch challenge at Retrosketches is based on my card, and I would love to see your take on it!

I turned the sketch upside down and used some fabulous Hero Arts stamps…there is a die for that Sleeping Snowman! How cute is he? I can’t wait to play with him some more!
Have a super weekend!

It’s my last week as one of this month’s headliners over on the most awesome Retrosketches Challenge blog, and I can’t thank Arielle enough for having me! This week’s sketch is based on a card made by the other headliner this month, Jen Wills:

I rotated sketch, and then I was inspired by all the lines in the tree trunks to use the large Halloween sentiment stamp from Purple Onion Designs. I paired it with some patterned paper from My Minds Eye and added some Kaiser Craft sparklets as the circles. This could be the last Halloween card of the year, and I need to get some of these out in the mail today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Weekend! I am back with a card for this week’s Retrosketches Challenge, using lots of Hero Arts goodies. I had an awesome time at my classes with Shari Carroll of Hero Arts on Thursday and just had to use my new Holiday Cheer set.

I rotated the sketch and stamped Tiny Flakes onto patterned paper from Basic Grey’s Aspen Frost collection. I stamped and diecut the reindeer and trees, using Copics to color the reindeer and his sweater, and then I stamped the sentiment from Two Birds in a Tree in kraft ink.

The bow was tied using Designer Twine, which I love because it has a very smooth finish. I added some mini pearls to the trees and called it day! I am entering this into the October Hero Arts contest as well - they have some holiday challenges going on and I wanted to join in the fun.

I can’t wait to play with the reindeer some more. Hope you have a crafty weekend planned! I am going to a shoebox swap tomorrow and have to plan my projects. :)

Yippeee! for another Retrosketches Challenge! This week’s sketch is based a fabulous card from the super sweet, super talented Kasia Curry.

For my card, I used stickers and papers from Fancy Pants Designs along with stamps from Wplus9. I am hoping to give it to a friend at work next week. Hope you’ll play along with us this week!!!

Hello! Happy World Card Making Day! I am psyched to tell you that the lovely Arielle Gordon has invited me to be the October Headliner on the Retrosketches blog! Woo hoo!

Knowing how much Arielle loves candy corn, today’s card was inspired by her. I used an A Muse Studio stamp set called Candy Corn Kisses, and paired it with patterned papers from Authentique Paper’s Enchanted line.

I used distress ink and glitter to decorate the sentiment panel, and diecut a button from patterned paper using a Memory Box die; it was colored yellow to match the candy corns.

I finished the button off with some May Arts black jute twine and added glitter to the candy before putting this all together. I think I need more colors of glitter. ;)

I’m getting excited for Halloween! Have a fun long weekend!

Retrosketches #29 with a Double Dash of the Repetition Challenge

By Suzanne

How was everyone’s weekend? I have to tell you that these last few hours of crafting were the highlight, since some mechanical issues with my airplane ended up forcing me to cancel my trip to see Laurie. It’s all good though because I am sure we can reschedule some other time. :) One of her fabulous cards is the inspiration for this week’s Retrosketches Challenge, and I made three CAS cards for it. On my card above, I used Fresh Blooms from Neat and Tangled, along with some Bazzill paper, my WPlus9 dies and my SU! chevron embossing folder.

For my next two cards, I used the repeat stamping technique and I am entering them into the Moxie Fab World’s Repetition Challenge. On both cards I used stamps from A Muse Studio, and veered from the original Retrosketch sketch just a tad…

That’s the new SU! Real Red inkpad in action. I am in love with it, and with how well it matches that Sparklet!

With this last card, I was also inspired by “ombre” and used light to darker shades of blue down the panel for the repeat stamping, and then the background was stamped using the lightest shade. I went with the green ribbon for a pop of a different color and added some Stickles to the dots in the image along the right side of the card.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon. :)

Retrosketches #23

I have a confession to make. I think this Fish More set from Wplus9 is just about the best thing since sliced bread. It is just so fun to play with. Today I needed a card to send to some friends who took me to dinner the other night…at a fish restaurant, and here’s what I came up with using some inspiration from this week’s Retrosketches Challenge.

I used some patterned paper from My Little Yellow Bicycle’s Splash collection, along with inks from A Muse Studio. The banner was diecut using Wplus9′s Banner Trio die, and the brown twine is from Hero Arts.

Love the orange and blue together! I hope my friends like the card. I will admit to not eating any fish at our dinner, though, because I am a sucker for fried clams; since hubby’s alergic to those, I eat them any chance I get when he’s not around. Have a wonderful day and thanks so very much for stopping by.
