Waltzingmouse September Blog Party

By Suzanne

It’s time for this month’s Waltzingmouse Blog Party, the theme of which is FALL! Hoorah for this most favorite season of mine.

I don’t have many WMS sets yet, but I’ve realized that I definitely need to add some of Claire’s beautiful Halloween sets to my stash. For my card, I used some fall themed patterned papers called Orchard Harvest from Samantha Walker. The green plaid was stamped with the background image from French Country, and then I added the sentiment from Blessed by You, as well as the frame from Very Vintage Labels #25.

The other dies are from SU! and the twine is from May Arts. If you look under the twine, you will see that I wrapped some gold washi tape from A Muse Studio around the top of the card before adding the twine. It adds the perfect bit of shimmer.

Happy blog hoppin’ to all of you today,

CAS-ual Fridays 69: Embossing

By Suzanne

Aren’t you glad it’s the weekend, because I sure am! It’s time for a new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, and this week we’re inviting you to incorporate embossing of any kind into your project.

This week’s winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp and a spot as our guest designer next month. :)

This is one of those cards that I thought up during my commute, but I am not sure it’s exactly how I envisioned it. I adhered the squares together with removable tape before I ran them through the Cuttlebug in the houndstooth embossing folder, so that the houndstooth pattern would be as seamless as possible when putting the card together. The Wplus9 sentiment was stamped onto some of their oatmeal cardstock, which was diecut with their banner die.

I am entering this into the Moxie Fab Gallon/Quart/Pint challenge. I used brown as my neutral, but otherwise I consider yellow as my gallon color, orange as the quart color, and scarlet is the pint color.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

RCC67: Bump It Up

Hope you’re having a great week so far! I am here today with a card for this week’s Ribbon Carousel Challenge, which is to make a card using any kind of embossing that you like (and some ribbon too).

I used my Wplus9 stamps with some clear heat embossing and some 3/4 inch bittersweet grosgrain ribbon from the store on this card. I also added some metallic Hero Arts bling to the leaves, and I am thinking this would be perfect to redo in red and green for Christmas. :)

I hope you’ll play along! Thanks for stopping by,

Cloud9 August Blog Hop

By Suzanne

The August Cloud9 Blog Hop goes live today at 10am EST, and I’m playing along using the Wplus9 stamp set called Season of Thanks. I’ve had it for some time and wanted to give it a try. I think their latest release has me really looking forward to Fall!

I drew this sketch as the jumping board for everyone’s cards this month. What do you think? What type of challenges do you like best? I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with!!! That’s the best part of all this for me.

The blog hop goes on for 3 days to give everyone plenty of time to play along, and there are prizes too. You can find all the details over on the Cloud9 blog. I hope to see you there!

market street special edition block party

By Suzanne

The Market Street Stamp Company is celebrating their 1st Anniversary with a Special Edition Block Party and there is a WICKED AWESOME prize at stake. You can read all about it here!

It’s not everyday that you get the chance to enter a contest like this one! I am soooo excited! So excited, in fact, that I ordered the same background stamp twice … {oops}.

I used two different collections on my card for this contest: Autumn Greetings and the Bit of Burlap background stamp. The cardstock base is French Roast cardstock from Amuse Studio, and I combined that with Vintage Cream cardstock from PTI and patterned papers from Crate Paper’s Farmhouse Collection:

Everything was stamped using Memento’s Rich Cocoa ink. I used a paper punch to cut out the hearts and strung them up on a piece of cream twine to make it look like the cute little scarecrow was holding a banner:

Then I finished the card off with the sentiment stamped on the die-cut banner, which was stitched at one end and layered in between the two pieces of cream cardstock.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it!

Moxie fab world sketch challenge

By Suzanne

Hi everyone!

I made two cards for the Moxie Fab World’s Horizontal Sketch Challenge, which features my dear friend Christina MacLaren! Run on over and take a look and join in on the fun!

Here are my takes on this sketch using patterned papers from Crate Paper, a beautiful plastic die cut flower from Jenni Bowlin, a wooden button from Pebbles, and two different Verve sentiements:

I love how these turned out, and how they’re increasing my stockpile of Fall cards! Sorry to be slacking in the blog department lately, but my lung cancer 5K is on the 25th and we’re in crunch time getting everything prepped. I will be back soon with lots more fun stuff to share! Have a great day!

Make It Monday #31

By Suzanne

It has been ages since I have played along with Papertrey’s Make It Monday, but I found this week’s challenge particularly hard to resist. We were tasked to create a background with a non-background stamp.

I knew I wanted to make a simple card so the background would stand out. I used Fall Elegance because I love the medium to small sized leaves in this set, as well as the beautiful script font of the sentiments. Then I got a little fancy with some twine and buttons… :)

My favorite thing about this card is the color combination: Ocean Tides, Terracotta Tile and Vintage Cream. Definitely a keeper for me!

happy fall

By Suzanne

I really can’t wait for the Fall. The heat and humidity of the summer are somewhat pointless unless I am on a beach with palm trees surrounding me. And the fact that there are so many yummy crafting goodies that are released for the fall and winter only makes me love those seasons even more.

This card has similar paper to the one from yesterday, including the Amber Ink digi-paper, but I had the chance to use my new PTI Simple Sunflower and Verve sentiment:

I love how this turned out. To be honest, I have had a hard time finding ways to use PTI’s fine linen paper and ribbon and I think it paired so nicely with the other colors here. Sometimes it looks greenish to me, other times it looks bleh to me. Here, not so much. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on this color too. Have a great day!
